About Me
About Me
A short biography.
I’m Tim Alexander and I’m the creator of TimHD. I’ve been into photography for most of my life. Even as a child I always was interested in my father’s camera (a Canon film camera he was very proud of) and wanted to see what he saw. At the end of High School, as a gift, I asked for one of the first digital cameras that took decent photos, and have been snapping pictures since.
I enjoy taking photos of anything that piques my interest. You’ll find mostly nature and still live here, but I’ve been shooting more events and fairs recently. With my amazing wife Molly in my life I’ve been taking more shots with heron trips and our extended family.
Gear wise I’ve used most brands. I currently shoot a Sony A7RV but have used Nikon, Canon, and Panasonic in the past. The more I use cameras, the more I understand people who say brand doesn’t mean as much as you might think. That’s not to say each doesn’t have its benefits but understanding what your tools can do and using them the best they can be used is more important than having a more expensive lens. Oh, and shoot raw, it’s a lifesaver!
If you’re reading this looking for advice, my best suggestion is to just take more photos. The more photos I take, the more I learn. Failure is a great teacher, and no one is born with a natural skill in photography. It’s an odd blend of technical and creative skills that gets better with time.
